BEDFORD TURN ON THE STYLE
The Bedford remain top of Division B after crushing struggling Rising Sun B at the Station Road pub on Monday.
They certainly have plenty to shout about after this latest win and a league title is now a real possibility.
The night started with a 2-1 trebles win for Ed Coombe, Mick O’Neill and Simon Laker. The highlight of the game saw Coombe hit a 174 (60, 60, 54) to leave a 170 out shot.
Tim Street and Matt Peskett followed up with a scrappy 2-1 doubles win against Sun skipper Les Scott and Jon Kendall.
James Westrip made it 3-0 with a great win over Jon Kendall that included two 100’s and an 83 checkout.
One of the performances of the night followed from Tim John. Having sat out of the team games, John showed his class with a 15 dart leg which included a 180. Despite losing the second leg to Dave Frecknell, John took the desisive leg to win 2-1. Added to the 180, John hit two 100’s included a 112 in shot.
Matt Peskett eased past Les Scott with a 2-0 win which was followed by a 2-0 for Tim Street over Dave Beech. Street hit The Bedfords first ton checkout of the season (104) to make the score 6-0.
With a whitewash looming, Simon Laker stumbled at the last, narrowly losing out to Phil Tyrell.
Ed Coombe was awarded the Man of the Match award for the first time this season.
