Westrip Magic on Great Night for The Bedford.
James Westrip produced the highlight of the night at The Norfolk Arms with a stunning 146 start to help The Bedford to a 7-0 drubbing of The Norfolk Arms.
Having sat through the majority of the evening's darts, Westrip produced an in shot worthy of the World Grand Prix darts which he had spent most of the night watching. Having hit double 13 first dart, he followed it up with two treble twenties to set up a 2-0 win against Sue Rogers and cap a marvellous evening for the away side.
The evening started with 2-0 wins in the trebles for Tim Street, Simon Laker and Ed Coombe and the doubles for Tim John and Matt Peskett. The latter game produced the first ton of the year from John along with a goldfish for Peskett.
Tim John continued the momentum with a 2-0 win in the first singles game of the night, notching up another two ton's against Gill Robertson. This was followed by a close game between Matt Peskett and Steve Pollard. Despite a 140 in the first leg, Peskett lost the leg however recovered to win 2-1. The highlight of the game being a rather unconventional put effective 64 out shot in the second leg.
Next up to the oche was last years player of the year, Tim Street. Having led the line in the trebles, Street came up trumps again with a 2-0 win over Geoff Davison. Simon Laker followed up with a 2-0 win over Kirsty Obbard which left Westrip to complete the rout.
James Westrip was voted the Players Man of the Match for his spectacular opening.
Next up for The Bedford is The Plough who visit the Station Road pub next Monday. The Bedford will be looking to capitalise of a great start with another solid display. MOM Westrip is unavailable however, Mick O'Neill is back for the tie.
