TITLE WITHIN TOUCHING DISTANCE FOR BEDFORD
Following an emphatic 5-2 win against Hare and Bounds B of Cowfold, news filtered through that The Bedford were now five points clear at the top of Division B after the Fountain overturned Southwater Club 5-2.
The night didn’t start too brightly for the top placed side. Ed Coombe, James Westrip and Tim John crashed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Max Walker, Terri Newman & Norman Chacksfield, despite a third 180 from Tim John.
Bedford levelled the tie up, thanks to a 2-1 win for Tim Street and Simon Laker over the father and son pairing of Dave and Lee Marshall. Laker and Street hit two tons apiece in the process.
Mick O’Neill got the singles off to a great start with a 2-0 win over Max Walker. His bull out shot eventually earned him the MOM award for the first time this season.
Tim John made it 12 out of 12 in the league with a 2-0 win over John Haynes before Tim Street made it 8 league wins in a row, beating Dave Marshall 2-0.
Matt Peskett had a disappointing night, losing his only game 2-0 at the hands of Norman Chacksfield, which left James Westrip to wrap things up with a 2-0 win over Lee Marshall.
The Bedford host third placed Fountain Inn this Monday, who must be on a high after their excellent result against second placed Southwater Club. The Bedford will have to be at the top of their game to secure their 11th win of the campaign and take another step towards the Division B championship.
