TIM JOHN MAXIMUM IN IMPRESSIVE BEDFORD WIN
The Bedford secured their second away win in succession, overpowering The Rising Sun B in their own back yard.
Tim John was the hero of the night, unleashing a maximum on his way to a 2-0 win over Dave Beech.
Despite losing the first leg of the trebles, Ed Coombe, Mick O’Neill and Simon Laker came back to win 2-1. This was followed by a 2-0 win from Tim John and Matt Peskett over the pairing of Dave Frecknall and Dave Beech.
John then stood up to the oche and after winning the first leg, fired in the 180 to the delight of the travelling team. Although John struggled to finish the game off he came away with another 2-0 win. Tim has not lost a leg in doubles or singles play this season and heads the Bedford Players League by 9 points.
Despite a 70 out-shot, Simon Laker came unstuck against Phil Tyrrell in the match of the night, finally losing 2-1.
James Westrip, back after a week off enjoyed another singles win, 2-1 against Dave Frecknall. Westrip hit a 73 in shot as well as a goldfish, his first of the season.
With the win secured, Tim Street pushed Jon Kendall aside 2-0 before skipper Matt Peskett added the final point of the evening with a 2-0 win over Stuart Worsfold.
Tons were again few and far between. Simon Laker hit a 140 and a 100, whilst Tim John was the star with a 180, a 140 and 2 100’s. James Westrip was the only other player to register three figures.
Highest in was Tim Street with 87 and highest out Simon Laker’s 70.
Man of the Match was understandably Tim John however there was some interesting voting with James Westrip, Matt Peskett & Mick O’Neill picking up 1 vote apiece and Tim Street 2.
