Match Report - The Bedford vs The Queens
The Bedford vs The Queens - Annual Pool/Darts Challenge
This year saw The Queens trying to overturn a 2-1 deficit and draw the annual series level. With the sides now increased to six players the first to 37 would win the title and the bragging rights for the coming year.
From the S Laker's win in the opening pool game against N Hooper, The Bedford were never behind and at times opened up a 12 point lead as they romped home to a 37-29 victory. Even the introduction by The Queens, of top Horsham dart player R Nevins, could not prevent the all-rounders from The Bedford from retaining their trophy with ease. Tim Street, the triumphant Bedford skipper quipped "This is a tremendous result for The Bedford, we have put in a lot of practice over the past month, playing darts, drinking and learning the rubbish new world pool rules for this event and it has paid off tonight. It just goes to show that you don't win anything with ringers".
A full run down of the players involved and the games they won in each code is shown below, although not all players completed their full quota of games as The Bedford wrapped up the proceedings early in the evening. A quick look at the breakdown will show that if it had not been for the inclusion of thier ringer, R Nevins, that The Queens would have been even more soundly beaten. As it was, even Nevins realised this by leaving the competition early and with still two of his games left to play!!
